Explore the evolving representation of non-binary and bisexual love stories in fiction. Panelists discuss breaking stereotypes, writing authentic relationships, and why these romances deserve more space in literature; beyond tropes, triangles, and tokenism. Love isn’t binary, and neither are our stories!

Natasha Hertanto is a Chinese-Indonesian writer, public speaker, and educator based in Naarm. Her work can be found on Kill Your Darlings, ABC, Australian Multilingual Project, Archer & more. Her short stories are part of the anthologies 'Everything All At Once' (Ultimo Press, 2021) and 'New Australian Fiction 2023' (Kill Your Darlings, 2023).

J.C. Rycroft is an award-winning queer fantasy author living and writing on unceded Wadawurrung land. Their work draws on epic fantasy tropes, queer romance, humour and wit, flawed but fabulous feminist heroes, and philosophical concepts brought to life. She enjoys diverse rep, profound political concerns, and a rollicking good story.

Jasper Peach is a trans, non-binary and disabled writer and parent. They are passionate about equitable access and inclusion, dismantling misplaced shame via storytelling.
You’ll Be a Wonderful Parent (Hardie Grant, 2023) was their first book, and is a groundbreaking resource for the LGBTIQASB+ community.

Two times TEDx speaker and award winning poet, Fleassy Malay, is an internationally renowned spoken word artist, speaker and educator. They're a global advocate for Women’s and LGBTQI+ rights. Fleassy is also the founder of Melbourne’s acclaimed NFP organisation and Women's Spoken Word event, Mother Tongue Poetry.

Jax Brown (they/them) is a respected disability and LGBTQIA+ rights activist, writer, and educator. Their work appears in QueerStories, Kindred, Growing Up Queer in Australia, and We’ve Got This, sharing powerful insights on identity, access, and parenting through lived experience and advocacy.

Andrew G Rose has performed in Scratch Arts comedy Eat My Cake, and delivered stirring poetry at Giddy Garden's Outspoken. Andrew is a gay man reclaiming the power of his own narrative. With unflinching honesty, Andrew kicks down the privacy screen to expose sexuality and queer identity as very real.

Hal Simons was born at a very young age. Their poetry brings humour to many somber and serious topics and wields their experiences of chronic pain, depression, grief, and love with heart-warming and heart-wrenching gusto. Often found caffeinated and wrapped in a kilt and befriending stray cats.

Bayley Turner (she/her) is a consultant on consent-based practice, inclusion, and intimacy coordination. She is also a performer and writer, who completed her master's thesis on consent and preventing sexual violence in the creative workplace. Bayley trained with Intimacy On Set and IDC Professionals.
